"Let Them Be Kids" is a volunteer, non-profitorganization created to build community capacity on the grassroots level; whilebuilding playgrounds, skateparks, and fitness parks across Canada. Theseprojects leave a legacy of community members who are inspired and betterequipped to lay a strong foundation for a brighter tomorrow.

Pikangikum Wins Playground Award

Pikangikum has won a national award from "Let Them Be Kids." Pikangikum was one of the communities chosen for this years "Let them Be Kids Award." The community has been given the chance to come together and design and build a playground or skatepark for the youth and families of Pikangikum. The announcement was made on the evening of March 25th to a very excited crowd. The build date is set for June 23rd 2012 where volunteers from inside and outside the community will gather to erect the structure chosen by the youth of Pikangikum. The site is located next to the commnity center, where there is already a basketball court and a baseball diamond, cementing the location as a recreational center for the families and youth of Pikangikum.
